How to Plan a Party:  Party Hard, Plan Harder

Everyone wants to have a fun party, but it is easier said than done.  Unless you can afford a party planner, you would have to know how to plan a party using the right ingredients to create the perfect party recipe.  First off, you would have to make your guest list.  Include people who would really matter in your party.  Avoid including people you are not really in good terms with to avoid fights.  The number of your guests should also be dependent on your budget.  How much can you really spend to make each guest feel comfortable and glad they were invited?

How to plan a party – Guest List

Once you have established your guest list, pick out a theme.  There are various themes nowadays but pick one that would be interesting enough for your guests to participate in.  For example, you can choose a theme wherein everyone is required to come in costumes or color-coded attires.  You can choose something that is a current fad to make it easier for your guests.  If your guests are mostly adults, avoid choosing a theme that would only be applicable for kids.  Choose a more mature theme that would not make them feel uncomfortable or itching to leave your party.

Every single detail of your decorations should also support your theme.  Keep in mind that your guests will notice every detail so you might as well make it all match.  For example, if your theme is black and gothic, avoid balloons that come in bright colors.  Pick out table napkins that have the same theme and colors as your chosen theme.

How to plan a party – Invitations

Make sure your invitations are also based on the theme you have chosen.  Make sure that each invitation is labeled with the person’s name to make them more likely to attend.  Your invitations should be sent out at least 2 weeks prior to your actual event.  This will give enough time for your guests to sort their schedules and prepare their outfits.  Advise them to RSVP if they would not be able to attend or if they would be attending with a friend so that you could make necessary adjustments.

How to plan a party – Food

Choose your food carefully.  Serve easy to eat food to make sure everyone would be able to eat.  It would be difficult to determine what food allergies your guests might have so might as well serve those that are common.  If you are serving drinks, make sure that they are chilled enough to quench the thirst of your guests.  Prepare coffee and water for those would prefer something other than soda and liquor.  Make sure you also pick out the right music to set the mood of your party.  It should also match your theme.  Choose music that you know will be familiar to your guests in a good way.  Have slow music available as well.  This will serve as a break for your guests to slow down from too much dancing and grooving on the dance floor.  Lastly, you should also show that you are enjoying the party.  Make your enjoyment as contagious as possible.  Greet each guest and mingle with them to make them feel welcome.  Knowing how to plan a party will surely make them want to hang out at your party more.
